Our Board
The Board of Artem Leadership Institute is comprised of incredibly well-networked individuals that are well-established in their professional fields. These men and women are position with the task of raising the level of leadership activity: whether it is through the coaching programs, professional resources, articles, newsletters, networking opportunities, and more. The Board, therefore, holds responsibility over the current leadership programs in the Artem Leadership Institute: Artem Associates, Artem ElleNet, and Artem NexGen.
Diana Léon-Brown
Diana L. Brown, MS, MBA
CEO, Artem Leadership Institute
Diana L. Brown is the CEO of the Artem Leadership Institute and Board Chair of Artem NexGen. She is a passionate leadership strategist and public speaker who uniquely integrates her background in marketing, communications and branding along with her foundation in organizational psychology to help her clients develop and execute a holistic career/life roadmap that align their professional goals and personal success. In addition, she manages the public relations, marketing communications and brands for numerous international organizations.
Over the past 20 years, Ms. Brown has dedicated her career to advocating for and developing women, nonprofit and youth leadership in all practice areas. She has published articles and produced numerous successful national programs, partnerships, workshops and campaigns with a mission to strengthen and arm leaders with the tools needed to navigate through the challenges of an ever-changing landscape. She is known by her colleagues as an innovative thinker and a fierce champion for cultivating the next generation of purposeful leaders.
After graduating with high honors from Harvard University with a degree in psychology and earning her MBA (also with high honors) from the George Washington School of Business in International Business Marketing, Diana worked with several multi-national businesses in the European Union on market-entry and branding communication strategies. She then returned to the Greater Washington Area and started, SageGroupDC, a management consulting firm specializing in business and nonprofit strategic marketing communications and branding. She is now based in south Florida where she manages the Institute, serves on several nonprofit boards and spends quality time with her husband, Michael, and three children.

Carl Hairston
Carl Hairston is Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer of City First Bank. Hairston supervises the management and execution of ongoing bank business activities to further advance growth of various banking services. After successfully leading the M&T Bank Lending and Services team in several US regions for 16 years, Hairston began his employment at City First Bank. Hairston has over 25 years of experience, specializing in commercial lending, sales management, and human resource management.
David Harrington
David Harrington is President and CEO at Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce. As a manager with over 20 years of experience, he has lead various projects encompassing communal cooperation and administrative leadership. Harrington has a comprehensive understanding of local, state, and national public policy. While serving on Prince George’s County Council, Harrington proposed legislation addressing the necessary improvement of the life quality for citizens in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Richard Jung
Richard Jung, Ed. D. is founder and Senior Partner for Education Access Strategies (EAS), which provides assistance to independent schools and non-profit organizations through various consulting services. Over seventy-five independent schools and non-profit organizations, primarily in the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest regions, have consulted with EAS for aid in head of school searches and related leadership transition situations. In July of 2015, Dr. Jung began serving as the Executive Director of the Associations of Independent Schools of Greater Washington (AISGW). Dr. Jung has led some of the nation’s finest college-preparatory schools.
Rosalia Miller
Rosalia Miller is President and CEO of CriLu, an educational counseling firm providing guidance services from nursery to 12th grade, college, and through various other educational mediums. Miller is a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), and the Greater Washington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Miller believes education is the gateway for grand opportunities. She has assisted countless young Hispanic students obtain equitable education, necessary for a bright future.
Marcellus Shepard
Marcellus “The Bassman” Shepard, also known as the "The Man With the Voice", has been an on-air radio personality in commercial and public radio for over twenty years. Shepard is the Program and Music Director at WEAA- FM in Baltimore and co-hosts nationally syndicated “Cool Jazz Countdown”. With a diverse set of skills, Shepard has also been nominated for Jazz Presenter of the Year, hosted local TV news programs, and acted in independent films. Committed to serving his community, he and his wife, founded Project Goodwill to provide lunches, toiletries and sleeping bags to those living on the streets and shelters in Washington, DC and Maryland. Shepard is a graduate of Morgan State University, member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity, and board member of the NFCB (National Federation of Community Broadcasters), and the Baltimore Jazz Alliance.
Dr. Nadia Hansel
Dr. Nadia Hansel is an associate professor of medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her areas of clinical expertise include allergy and immunology, asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Dr. Hansel serves as associate dean for research for Johns Hopkins Medicine and chair of the Johns Hopkins Bayview Scientific Advisory Board. With research interests in genetic and environmental determinants of obstructive airway diseases, she serves as the assistant director for research for the Department of Medicine’s pulmonary division and directs the Obstructive Lung Disease Research Group. She earned her M.D. from Harvard Medical School and her Master’s in Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Medicine.
Swati Agrawal
Swati Agrawal is CEO of Firmseek, a national company providing branding, strategy, and web marketing solutions to law firms and other organizations around the country. Agrawal co-founded Firmseek in 1999. Prior to Firmseek, she worked as a litigation attorney.
As an alumnus of MindShare, an invitation-only program, she leads one of the most promising high-tech companies in the DC area. She currently serves on the Yale Law School Association Executive Committee.
Agrawal has a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan and graduated from Yale Law School. While at Yale, she was awarded the Florida Supreme Court's Outstanding Pro Bono Representation Award for work on behalf of Cuban refugees detained on Guantanamo Bay.
Agrawal is focused on helping professional service companies improve their competitive positioning and grow market share through enterprise-based websites.
